Year of Living Culturally Gray in Fayetteville, NC

What do I miss most about other places I have formerly lived? The creative scene, the cultural selections and ability to escape into a darkened theater to enjoy for a couple hours being entertained. Miss getting dressed up and being enticed into make-believe. I have decided to embark this year on seeing what Fayetteville has to offer culturally. From becoming a seasoned member of the Cape Fear Regional Theater attending my first Sweet Tea Shakespeare production, attending Secret Garden at the Gilbert located up above Fascinate-U, I continue already to be fascinated and satisfied of this venture. This year is shaping up to be just right for someone who misses memories of being emersed in the craft of those who provide experiences to an audience. The elements of watching the stage come alive, light up with talented actors and actresses, scenery, the atmosphere of performing before an audience. Playbills provide souvenirs of each experience and performance.  My being early retired and having a sufficient enough income, allowing me the ability to enjoy the cultural scene of Fayetteville quite nicely is a blessing.  At times, dotted with excursions downtown to the Cameo Art House, culture in Fayetteville is alive and just right for those fortunate enough to be able to enjoy! The canons of Fayetteville’s repertoire and ability to attract from as far as California, as was the case in Director Khanisha Foster of Intimate Apparel recently enjoyed proving Fayetteville can stand toe to toe with other urban areas enticing people out to spend time at the theater. Can’t wait to see what the remaining season and next season has to offer a retired consummate cultural appreciator of those who provides their craft for appreciation and enjoyment.  Next? Sherlock Holme’s Hounds of Baskerville being offered in a unique way by Cape Fear Regional Theater. Time to get out my satin red gloves, which I carry as my own props and see what mystery and enjoyment is afoot!
